Smoothie’s on the go are convenient but they’re often loaded with added sugars. Making them at home helps you control what you put in and they are more balanced and satisfying. Why you will love this Broccoli Smoothie recipe

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Broccoli florets. Get your green florets ready! You can use raw, steamed or frozen broccoli.
  • Plain Greek Yogurt.  This provides protein, I used plain 2% however full fat, non-fat or flavored greek yogurt is delicious as well.
  • Spinach. Vibrant leafy greens boost your brain health along with lowering your risk for high blood pressure and heart disease. Kale leaves will also taste delicious in this easy broccoli smoothie.
  • Frozen unsweetened mango chunks. It’s packed vitamins C and A and is loaded with dietary fiber. Mango is one of my favorite fruits and it helps with the flavor. Other frozen ingredients can be used as well such as strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, apple, banana or papaya.
  • Date syrup.  Date syrup adds natural sweetness and has small amounts of potassium and magnesium.
  • Water. This helps blend everything together.
  • Optional garnishes: hemp seeds or a handful of chia seeds will provide extra nutrition.

How to make a Broccoli Smoothie

Step One: Combine the broccoli along with other ingredients into a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth for about 1-2 minutes.

A clear blender cup filled with fresh spinach leaves, cubed cantaloupe, and broccoli florets sits on a white surface with scattered greens nearby, ready to be blended into a nutritious broccoli smoothie.

Step Two: Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.

Helpful tips

  • Taste test and adjust sweetness if needed.
  • Experiment with different frozen fruit and veggie smoothie recipes to find your favorite ways to incorporate healthy veggies into your daily diet.
  • To make this smoothie with broccoli dairy-free, replace the greek yogurt with plant based yogurt, a ripe banana, avocado, vegan protein powder or plant based milk.
  • A high powered blender or a NutriBullet is recommended for this recipe. No juicing or juicer is necessary.
