Welcome! My name is Kristina and I’m so grateful you’re here!

Hello from Seattle! I’m Kristina — food blogger, professionally trained food photographer, recipe developer and the mom behind When Salty and Sweet Unite.

This blog was born from a simple belief: healthy food should never be boring. Here you’ll find high protein, healthy-ish comfort food that your whole family will actually want to eat — with bold global flavors, homemade spice blends and real ingredients that nourish without sacrificing flavor.

My cooking is influenced by my Latina heritage, my love for all cultures and my deep passion for home cooked family meals that are both satisfying and good for you. From bison recipes and high protein pasta dishes to homemade seasoning blends and healthy comfort food makeovers — this is real food for real life.

A little about me: I graduated from the Culinary School at the Art Institute of Seattle, I’m a professionally trained food photographer and I’ve spent years learning how to make healthy eating feel like anything but a sacrifice. My recipes use real whole ingredients, are often gluten free or dairy free friendly, and are always tested in my own kitchen.

When I’m not cooking or behind the camera, you’ll find me walking my Labradoodle, doing yoga, exploring new places with my family or chasing my little one around the house.

I’m so glad you’re here. Pull up a chair — there’s always something delicious coming out of my kitchen.
