- Place the salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Add the spices and layer with the red onion and dill on the top. Then you want to sqeeze the lemon juice all over the top. Lastly, drizzle the oil olive and honey on top .
The salmon only needs to bake for about 15 minutes. The total cook time will depend on the thickness of the fish.

Helpful tips
Trust me when I say no one likes a dried out piece of salmon! A few things you can do to ensure you have cooked up a moist salmon is to make you are putting the liquid directly on top of salmon. After you squeeze the lemon juice on top of the salmon, add the slices on top or on the bottom.
Also double check your oven temperature to make sure it’s set at the proper temperature.
The best way to know if salmon is cooked is to check for doneness with a thermometer. 145 degrees is considered cooked all the way through. Though not everyone wants it cooked like that.
I like to check to see that the salmon has changed to an opaque color. It will also be flaky.
This recipe calls for atlantic salmon. I use this cut of salmon based on the price and the availibilty. Any kind of salmon fillet can be used though. I recommend sockeye.
Atlantic salmon is more of a pale orange color and a thicker cut. Sockeye is thinner and more reddish. If you use sockeye, be sure to adjust your cooking time as it will bake more fast.
Serving suggestions
Salmon can be served with a various of different side dishes.
Cumin Sweet Potatoes, Roasted Cauliflower Steaks, Jasmine Rice, Mash Potatoes, Sweet Potato Salad and Pasta are some appetizing options.
A ton of vegetables taste wonderful with salmon such as asparagus, green beans, zucchini, broccoli, edamame, bok choy, spinach and kale.
Storing instructions
Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Why I created this Baked Salmon with Lemon and Dill recipe
I LOVE salmon in all different ways. Salmon’s health benefits are amazing as well. It’s a great source of protein and is high in potassium. It’s also low in fat. Salmon is packed with omega 3 fatty acids which can lower the risk of cognitive diseases and cardiovascular disease.
I also love salmon because of its versatility. You can pretty much use any flavor profile on a juicy baked salmon fillet and it will be delicious! But dill and honey are one of my favorite toppings for salmon. PLUS, my family enjoys this flavor combination!
