Why this Salmon with Lemon and Dill recipe works

Ingredients you’ll need

mise en place of salmon
  • Atlantic salmon. I recommend Atlantic for its price point and thickness.
  • Garlic seasoning. You can use any type of garlic seasoning. I use Flavor God and it is salt free.  Adjust accordingly if your garlic seasoning contains salt. You can also try it with my homemade  All Purpose Seasoning– this seasoning works on any protein.
  • Kosher salt. (if your garlic seasoning contains salt, then you may need adjust how much additional salt is needed)
  • Ground black pepper
  • Red Onion. This is totally optional but really does add enormous flavor to this dish.
  • Fresh dill. Fresh is best but dried dill can be used if you don’t have fresh dill on hand.
  • Lemon juice. Don’t throw out the lemons after you squeeze them- add them to the top.
  • Extra virgin olive oil. Melted butter is delicious as well and will create an amazing butter sauce.
  • Honey

How to make Salmon with Lemon and Dill

Step One: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large sheet pan with parchment for easy clean up. Place the salmon skin side down onto the baking sheet.

Step Two: Season with salt, pepper, and the garlic seasoning. Then layer the red onions and dill on top. Squeeze the lemon juice evenly all over the salmon and place the slices on top.

Step Three: Drizzle the olive oil and the honey. Place in the oven and cook salmon for about 15 minutes or when the internal temp hits 130 degrees. Salmon will be flaky when it is done. Cook time will vary depending on thickness.

Step Four: When done, remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes.  Serve with your favorite side dishes.

Storing and reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on high for 1-2 minutes.
