Starting your day on a delicious note is always a must! My Protein Acai Bowl is nourishing and vibrant. It’s packed with lots of plant-based goodness and topped with fresh fruit, crunchy hemp seeds and granola. This bowl is also vegan and high-protein. Just like my Kale Berry Smoothie or my Raspberry Smoothie with Greek Yogurt, it’s great for a post-workout meal or as a wholesome breakfast

Why this recipe works

  • Quick and Easy: Easy like my Broccoli Smoothie, this Açai protein bowl is made with Açai packets and frozen fruits and it takes about 5 minutes to make!
  • Dairy-Free: Like my Strawberry Banana Smoothie with Kale, this recipe is made with a plant-based protein powder from Truvani and oat milk.
  • Customizable: You can add extra protein to acai smoothie bowls by mixing in greek yogurt, almond butter, peanut butter or chia seeds. Top this healthy acai bowl with hemp hearts, a drizzle of honey or coconut flakes.

Ingredients for this protein acai bowl

Ingredients for a smoothie arranged on a gray surface: a bowl of vegan protein powder, a dish of oat milk, a small bowl with a frozen banana, a package labeled Sambazon Açaí Packet, and a bowl of frozen blueberries.
  • Frozen acai packet. Sambazon brand makes acai packets and it comes with 4 in the box. Sambazon is sold in most grocery stores in the freezer section.
  • Vegan vanilla protein powder. I use Truvani because I like the way it tastes. Any vanilla protein powder will work though.
  • Oat milk. Unsweetened almond milk is good too or any plant-based milk such as coconut milk or cashew milk.
  • Frozen blueberries. Besides blueberries being loaded with dietary fiber, I love the flavor. Any frozen mixed berries will work. Frozen fruits help keep the creamy texture and temperature of the açaí bowl.
  • Frozen banana. Use a 1/2 banana or a whole. It helps add a natural sweetness.
  • Optional toppings : honey, granola, fresh berries,  fresh ripe banana, hemp seeds and chia seeds are just to name a few of the delicious ways you can garnish your bowl.

How to make

Add all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender, food processor or NutriBullet and blend until you have a desired consistency. Enjoy as is or add your favorite toppings such as sliced banana, fresh berries, hemp seeds and granola.

Storage

This high protein acai bowl should be enjoyed immediately. It will start to melt- which isn’t a bad thing but it will have a smoothie consistency if left out too long.

Notes

Notes:
Helpful tips:
Serve immediately.
Vanilla protein powder is already sweet – additional sweetener isn’t needed but you can always add a drizzle of honey if desired.
If the fruit isn’t blending well, add a touch more milk and stir and then blend again. (I use Nutribullet and sometimes this happens)
