My Homemade Zesty Italian Seasoning Mix is the perfect spice blend to use on all your favorite recipes. With a mix of some classic Italian herbs such as oregano and basil, this spice mixture gets its zing from sweet paprika, garlic and onion powder.
This recipe is inspired by the Italian seasoning from Flavor God. They use paprika in their blend and it’s quite amazing!

This recipe is great for the whole family. Use this zesty spice on garlic bread- slather butter and sprinkle on top and bake. Use it in salad dressings along with extra-virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar, or as a dry rub to meats like salmon, sheet pan chicken thighs, beef and pork. Add a dash to the top of cheesy dishes like fettuccine Alfredo, mac and cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich. Or you can use on vegetables like in my Roasted Cauliflower Steaks.

Helpful tips
Making spice blends at home are simple. The best thing you can do is make sure you are using fresh spices. Always check the expiration date and make sure spices are always stored properly in your spice cabinet and not near alot of heat.
You can make it a milder flavor by leaving out the paprika. Or you can add some spice to it by adding red pepper flakes or chili pepper. I like to add red pepper flakes when I know my toddler won’t be eating the dish I’m using it in.
Keep it lower in sodium by omitting the salt or using less salt. I don’t suggest adding more salt.
You can always change out the amounts of each spice you use but it will give different results. Use measuring spoons for accuracy.
