French Toast Kebabs are a fun and kid-friendly twist to classic french toast. Juicy strawberries and delicious french toast are skewered and dusted with powdered sugar. Perfect for brunch boards, weekend breakfast or whenever you’re craving a cute and delicious treat.
In a shallow dish, mix the eggs, milk, sugar and cinnamon.
On a griddle or non-stick pan, ½-1 tbsp of the butter over medium/low heat. One slice at a time, dip the bread into the egg mixture, ensuring it is coated on both sides. Cook the slice until golden and then flip and cook the other side. Place on a wire rack to cool and repeat with remaining slices.
Ensuring the slices are cooled down, cut the bread lengthwise in half , stack and then cut one more time down the middle.
For the strawberries, you can cut off the green tops or turn them into heart shapes by cutting a V on the top of the strawberry.
Assemble the kebabs by placing one strawberry, the 4 cubes of french toast, one strawberry, another 4 cubes and then one strawberry. Each skewer should have 3 strawberries and 8 cubes of french toast. Garnish with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Notes:Storing and reheating: Store the french toast separately in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30-45 seconds without the strawberries.Helpful tips:
Use a cooling rack for the french toast. This will prevent it from getting soggy. If you stack it on a plate, the steam will get trapped.
Try to look for smaller strawberries.
Cut off the green tops of the strawberries or cut the top into a V to make them look like hearts.
Pat the strawberries with a damp paper towel to avoid excess moisture.
Serving size is 16 skewers (One slice of bread makes 2 skewers)
