It’s most popular in Philly cheese steak recipes. Shaved beef is thinly sliced beef that can come from pretty much any part of the cow. It’s also lower in fat. Shaved beef can be purchased in your local supermarket. Trader Joe’s carries it as well. One store I haven’t seen it at is my local Costco.
In a large bowl or shallow dish, you’re going to add all the ingredients except for the olive oil and mushrooms. Mix the sauce into the meat and let it marinate for about 30 minutes at room temperature or in the fridge.
On medium-high heat, preheat a large skillet for 1-2 minutes . When the pan is ready , turn the heat down and add the olive oil along with the mushrooms. Let them cook for about 3-4 minutes then you can add the beef.
The beef will braise in the sauce for about 20 minutes. You can adjust the seasoning by adding more black pepper and salt if you like.
