Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Pizza Crust

This is my review and recipe using Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Pizza Crust. One of my favorite indulgences is a good slice of pizza. The cheese, the cheese pull, folding the pizza, watching them make pizza, extra cheese, red pepper flakes, the crust, burning the roof of my mouth for that first bite- It’s a whole vibe with me!

The thing with pizza is though most great pizza joints make their crust from scratch, I can tolerate one slice but 2 is pushing it with the gluten.

Trying Cauliflower Crust at Home

With the rise of the keto and low carb diets, some great inventor found out that cauliflower(bless its heart) can be made into a crust! Say what?!?!?! Is this more healthy?!

I’ve been curious to make cauliflower pizza crust at home, however some of the fitness influencers I follow insist the store bought brands do a great job of making the crusts.

This is my 2nd attempt with using Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Pizza Crust. This is not to be confused with their cauliflower wraps that are found in the refrigerator section. The cauliflower crust comes frozen and is found in the freezer section.

I mentioned this is the 2nd attempt. The first try I wasn’t quite happy with the end results. The crust had broken on me before I got to place the toppings on.

This time, baking the crust was more easier- I was more careful about flipping it over on the tray for the pre-cooking. I followed the instructions on the back of the box exactly and the crust turned out good.

Experimenting with Toppings

As for the toppings and taste: well, cauliflower pizza is definitely not that hand tossed glutenous dough that I know and love. But to me, a pizza isn’t always about the dough, its also what you choose to put on it.

I had made some hazelnut pesto and we also had random veggies and italian sausage that needed to be used up. and Voila! Pesto on Pizza?! Yesssssss!

My final thoughts and honest rating for this cauliflower pizza crust: I give it a 6/7. I liked it much better with the pesto sauce versus the red sauce I used when I first made . Also I thought the sausage and vegetables really complimented the cauliflower crust much better, rather than the first time when I used mozzerella and salami.

Have you tried any Cauliflower Crusts out there or have you made your own? What did you think?

Since making this dish, I have tried another brand that I enjoyed and I will review next time. 🙂
